LEGEND OF THE VIRGEN DE ESCARDIEL 

The three legends around the Virgin. 
If the legends reflect the devotion of the town for an invocation, the Virgin of Escardiel is one of those most worshipped ones, because they exist three legends at least around her. According to a version the name of Escardiel is of Roman-Arab origin, and it means field of thistles", place where it is supposed that he/she appeared to a shepherd. 
The oldest also count that a hunter found the size in the hole of an oak of which acorns sprouted with the Virgin's image. Other, however, they believe that a farmer that worked with an escardillo he/she found it in a tree.
